WHIA-Con-2024-call-for-presentations

The WHIA Annual Conference is entirely presented in the “case presentation” format. There are no instructional presentations.
The type of cases we are interested in are:

–Homicides (mostly) or at least cases that homicide or violent crimes detectives would investigate
–High profile cases
–Cases that required some significant level of investigation. “Who dunnits”
–Cases that involved the use of new or updated techniques or technology.
–Cases that had a contentious trial
–Cases that have some unique or unusual aspects. For example, in the past we have had presentations on marine homicides and hit & run (vehicle) homicides.

More details:
–Presentations are generally 2 hours in length.
–Generally, presentations are limited to 2 presenters per case. The second presenter may be another Detective, a Supervisor, or a Prosecutor. Who the presenters are will ultimately be determined by the conference presentation selection committee.

Here’s “The Deal”:
–If your case is selected for presentation, you will be granted full tuition/attendance to the conference and will receive a training certificate at the end of the conference.
–Each presenter will be provided 3 nights hotel, checking in on the Tuesday, checking out Friday morning (two comped rooms per presentation).
–You will be permitted to participate in all meals, hospitality and hosted entertainment events.
–Out-of-pocket travel expenses are reimbursed on a case-by-case basis.
